Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked beef, ground
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Gravy, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine ground smoked beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape mixture into 1‑inch meatballs and set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil, and brown meatballs on all sides, cooking through, about 10‑12 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile boil diced potatoes until tender, drain, return to pot.
  5. Add milk, butter, garlic powder and parsley to potatoes; mash until smooth.
  6. Serve meatballs over mashed potatoes, topped with warm gravy.

Notes

  • For extra flavor
  • add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy. Leftovers reheat well in a skillet with a splash of broth.
