Description

Crack Green Beans: a sweet, savory and addictively delicious side dish featuring tender green beans glazed with brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic, topped with crispy turkey bacon.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or olive oil.
  2. Steam or blanch green beans for 4–5 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain well and transfer to the baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, melted butter, garlic, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Pour the sauce over the green beans and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle chopped turkey bacon on top.
  5. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
  6. Serve warm and watch them disappear fast!

Notes

  • Can substitute pancetta or cooked bacon if turkey bacon isn’t available.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure soy sauce is gluten-free.
  • Leftovers reheat well; store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For extra glaze, simmer the sauce a minute or two before tossing with beans.
