Description
Crack Green Beans: a sweet, savory and addictively delicious side dish featuring tender green beans glazed with brown sugar, soy sauce and garlic, topped with crispy turkey bacon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (gluten-free if needed)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish lightly with butter or olive oil.
- Steam or blanch green beans for 4–5 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain well and transfer to the baking dish.
- In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, melted butter, garlic, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Pour the sauce over the green beans and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle chopped turkey bacon on top.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
- Serve warm and watch them disappear fast!
Notes
- Can substitute pancetta or cooked bacon if turkey bacon isn’t available.
- For a gluten-free version, ensure soy sauce is gluten-free.
- Leftovers reheat well; store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- For extra glaze, simmer the sauce a minute or two before tossing with beans.
