Description

Texas Roadhouse Rolls are soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth fluffy dinner rolls inspired by the restaurant classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened (plus more for brushing)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the honey butter:
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add remaining sugar, butter, egg, and salt; mix until combined.
  3. Gradually stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough comes together and is soft but not sticky.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–6 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down dough and roll out to about ½-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rectangles and place on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Brush immediately with melted butter.
  10. For honey butter, mix softened butter, honey, and cinnamon until smooth. Serve warm with rolls.

Notes

  • Warm milk should be around 110°F (43°C).
  • Dough should be soft but not sticky; adjust flour as needed.
  • Allow dough to double in size for best texture.
  • You can freeze baked rolls or dough portions for future use, then reheat gently.
