Description
Texas Roadhouse Rolls are soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth fluffy dinner rolls inspired by the restaurant classic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 4 tbsp butter, softened (plus more for brushing)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 3½–4 cups all-purpose flour
- For the honey butter:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra warmth)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add remaining sugar, butter, egg, and salt; mix until combined.
- Gradually stir in flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough comes together and is soft but not sticky.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–6 minutes until smooth.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and roll out to about ½-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rectangles and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Brush immediately with melted butter.
- For honey butter, mix softened butter, honey, and cinnamon until smooth. Serve warm with rolls.
Notes
- Warm milk should be around 110°F (43°C).
- Dough should be soft but not sticky; adjust flour as needed.
- Allow dough to double in size for best texture.
- You can freeze baked rolls or dough portions for future use, then reheat gently.
