Description
Texas Roadhouse Rice: A bold, buttery, perfectly seasoned copycat side inspired by the famous Texas Roadhouse dish, ready in about 30 minutes and gluten-free.

- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup finely diced onion
- 1/2 cup finely diced green bell pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse rice under cold water until water runs mostly clear. Drain well.
- In a medium pot, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper. Sauté 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Cook for 30 seconds to bloom the spices.
- Add rice and stir to coat with the seasoned butter mixture. Toast for 1–2 minutes.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
- Gluten-free when using gluten-free chicken broth
- For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to taste
- Parsley garnish adds a fresh aroma; optional
