Description

Texas Roadhouse Rice: A bold, buttery, perfectly seasoned copycat side inspired by the famous Texas Roadhouse dish, ready in about 30 minutes and gluten-free.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups long-grain white rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/2 cup finely diced green bell pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse rice under cold water until water runs mostly clear. Drain well.
  2. In a medium pot, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper. Sauté 4–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Cook for 30 seconds to bloom the spices.
  4. Add rice and stir to coat with the seasoned butter mixture. Toast for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  7. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Gluten-free when using gluten-free chicken broth
  • For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to taste
  • Parsley garnish adds a fresh aroma; optional
