Description

Smash Burger Tacos – indulgent mashup of crispy smashed beef on tortillas with melty cheese and classic burger toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or American-style cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup sliced pickles
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • For the Sauce:
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp pickle relish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Divide beef into 8 equal portions and flatten each into a thin patty slightly larger than the tortillas.
  3. Press one beef patty firmly onto one side of each tortilla.
  4. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  5. Place tortillas beef-side down in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until beef is crispy and cooked through.
  6. Flip tortillas, sprinkle cheese on the cooked beef, and cook for 1–2 minutes until tortillas are lightly crisp and cheese melts.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and relish to make the sauce.
  9. Top tacos with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and drizzle with sauce.
  10. Fold and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Best served immediately for maximum crispiness.
  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken and reduced-fat cheese.
  • Swap flour tortillas for corn tortillas for a gluten-containing alternative if desired.
  • Leftovers can be stored refrigerated and reheated in a skillet to restore crispness.
