Description
Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwiches: Tender, slow-cooked beef piled high on toasted rolls with melted provolone, served with rich au jus for dipping.

- 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire-style sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 6 hoagie or French rolls
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tbsp butter (for toasting rolls)
Instructions
- Place chuck roast in the slow cooker. Add sliced onion and garlic.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire-style sauce, soy sauce, thyme, and black pepper.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until beef is fork-tender and easily shreds.
- Shred beef directly in the slow cooker and let it soak in the juices for 10–15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Split rolls, lightly butter the insides, and toast for 5–7 minutes until golden.
- Pile shredded beef onto rolls and top each with a slice of provolone.
- Return to oven for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve warm with a small bowl of strained au jus for dipping.
Notes
- Serves 6 sandwiches
- Strain the au jus for dipping, if desired
- Toast the rolls and melt the cheese just before serving for best texture
