Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until just combined.
  2. Shape into 4–6 oval patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until soft and lightly caramelized, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire-style sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
  7. Return patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over the top. Simmer 5 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or rice.
