- 1½ lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 2 tbsp sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, cornstarch, beef broth, brown sugar, and black pepper. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and cook 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining olive oil to the skillet. Add bell peppers and onion and stir-fry for 4–5 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
- Stir in garlic and ginger and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture.
- Cook 2–3 minutes, stirring, until sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
- Drizzle with sesame oil if using and garnish if desired. Serve warm over rice or enjoy on its own.
Notes
- Gluten-free dish when using gluten-free soy sauce (the recipe uses low-sodium soy sauce).
- Sesame oil is optional but adds a nice toasted flavor.
- Serve over steamed rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
- Can substitute flank steak with sirloin if needed.
