Description
Orange Chicken: A quick, 20-minute, 3-ingredient takeout-inspired dish with a juicy chicken in a sticky orange glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup orange marmalade
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (or teriyaki sauce for a twist)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (optional for extra flavor)
- 2 tbsp oil for frying
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
- In a small bowl, whisk together orange marmalade, barbecue sauce, and soy sauce (if using).
- Drain any excess oil from the skillet, then pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
- Simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken evenly.
- Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles and garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- You can replace chicken with cubed tofu for a vegetarian option.
- For extra glaze, simmer a little longer until thickened.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce if you’re watching salt intake.
- Serve with steamed rice, quinoa, or noodles.
