- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire-style sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add onion and mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire-style sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until hot and bubbly and cheese is melted.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.
Notes
- Gluten free as written (no gluten-containing ingredients).
- Leftovers refrigerate well and can be reheated in the microwave or oven.
- For extra speed, brown the beef ahead of time and reheat in the skillet with mushrooms.
- Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh finish (optional).
- Let the casserole rest 5 minutes before serving to set the sauce.
