- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 medium apple, peeled and finely diced
- Oil for frying
- For the vanilla glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in diced apples.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop small spoonfuls of batter into the oil and fry for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Dip warm fritters in the glaze or drizzle over the top. Serve immediately!
Notes
- Finely diced apples help the fritters cook evenly and stay tender inside.
- Do not overcrowd the pan; fry in batches for golden, crisp fritters.
- Maintain oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for best results.
- You can adjust glaze consistency by adding more milk for a thinner glaze or more powdered sugar for thicker coating.
