Description
Jalapeño Popper Stuffed Onion Rings: Crispy, cheesy bites filled with a creamy jalapeño filling, then breaded and fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large sweet onions, sliced into thick rings
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 jalapeños, finely diced
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1½ cups breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Separate onion slices into rings and pair similar-sized rings together to create space for filling.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeños, garlic powder, and salt until smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the cheese mixture between paired onion rings, pressing gently to seal. Freeze for 30 minutes to firm up.
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each stuffed ring in flour, dip in egg, then coat in breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb step for extra crunch.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry onion rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm with dipping sauce.
Notes
- Chill the stuffed rings for 30 minutes before breading for best filling adhesion.
- Maintain oil at 350°F (175°C) and avoid overcrowding the pan for evenly fried rings.
- Substitute Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for cheddar if desired.
- Serve with ranch, blue cheese, or your favorite dipping sauce.
