- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 medium apple, peeled and finely diced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)
- Oil for frying
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix egg, milk, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then fold in diced apples.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
- In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
- Dip warm fritter bites into the glaze or drizzle it on top. Serve immediately!
Notes
- Best eaten warm for the crispiest texture.
- Keep fried fritters in a warm oven if not serving immediately.
- Maintain oil temperature around 350°F (175°C) for even browning.
- To prevent apples from browning, toss with a little lemon juice if desired.
