Hamburger & Potato Casserole: A simple, 5-ingredient comfort dish featuring ground beef, potatoes, and a cheesy topping.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with salt and black pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the baking dish.
- Top with half of the cooked ground beef and spread half of the soup mixture over the top.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
- Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until melted and lightly golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serves 6 portions.
- Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated; bake from chilled, adding 10–15 minutes to the bake time.
- Leftovers reheat well in the microwave or oven.
- Contains cream of mushroom soup; check labels if you need a gluten-free version.
