Description

Hamburger & Potato Casserole is a hearty, easy 5-ingredient dinner layered with seasoned ground beef, potatoes, and a creamy mushroom sauce.


Ingredients

  • lb ground beef
  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish.
  5. Spread half of the cooked ground beef over the potatoes.
  6. Pour half of the soup mixture evenly over the beef.
  7. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
  8. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 75 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
  9. Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar evenly on top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Swap cream of mushroom soup for a homemade creamy sauce if desired.
  • For a lighter version, use leaner ground beef and reduced-fat cheese.
