Description

Ground Turkey with Potatoes: a hearty one-pan skillet dinner that is comforting, flavorful, and perfect for weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 3 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp thyme (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ cup chicken or vegetable broth (optional, for softer potatoes)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced potatoes and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Season with paprika, cumin, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Once the turkey is browned, add the potatoes back to the skillet. Stir to combine and pour in broth if desired. Simmer for 3–5 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions and serve warm.

Notes

  • This dish can be made on the stovetop in about 30 minutes from start to finish.
  • For extra color and flavor, add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms with the onions.
  • To reduce fat, use 93% lean ground turkey or turkey breast.
