Description

Ground Beef and Broccoli: A quick, budget-friendly 30-minute dinner featuring tender broccoli and savory ground beef in a garlicky sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in broccoli florets and cook for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and black pepper.
  5. Pour the sauce into the skillet and stir well.
  6. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil, stir, and remove from heat.
  8. Garnish with green onions and serve hot over rice or on its own.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version of this dish.
  • If needed, use gluten-free soy sauce to make it gluten-free.
  • Serve over cooked rice or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
