Description

Grilled Cheese Patty Melts: Crispy, buttery bread with juicy seasoned beef, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese—the ultimate comfort food mashup that elevates a classic burger into a melt.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices sandwich bread
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 8 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4 thin patties slightly larger than the bread slices.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook 8–10 minutes until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook beef patties 3–4 minutes per side until fully cooked. Remove from skillet.
  4. Butter one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place bread butter-side down in the skillet. Add one slice of cheese, a beef patty, caramelized onions, another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread (butter-side up).
  6. Cook over medium-low heat 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for juicier patties.
  • Caramelize the onions slowly to develop deep flavor.
  • Butter the outer sides of the bread for a golden-crisp crust.
  • Cheese choices: cheddar or Swiss work well; try pepper jack for extra heat.
