Description
Grilled Cheese Patty Melts: Crispy, buttery bread with juicy seasoned beef, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese—the ultimate comfort food mashup that elevates a classic burger into a melt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 8 slices sandwich bread
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
- 8 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4 thin patties slightly larger than the bread slices.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook 8–10 minutes until soft and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook beef patties 3–4 minutes per side until fully cooked. Remove from skillet.
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place bread butter-side down in the skillet. Add one slice of cheese, a beef patty, caramelized onions, another slice of cheese, and top with another slice of bread (butter-side up).
- Cook over medium-low heat 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use 80/20 ground beef for juicier patties.
- Caramelize the onions slowly to develop deep flavor.
- Butter the outer sides of the bread for a golden-crisp crust.
- Cheese choices: cheddar or Swiss work well; try pepper jack for extra heat.
