Description

Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes: Bold, savory open-face sandwiches on garlic toast topped with melty cheddar, ready in about 25 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire-style sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 6 slices thick bread
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in onion and cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire-style sauce, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush both sides of bread slices.
  6. Place bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes until golden.
  7. Spoon sloppy joe mixture generously over each toast slice.
  8. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and return to oven for 3–5 minutes until melted.
  9. Garnish if desired and serve warm.
