Description
Crock Pot French Dip Sandwiches: Juicy, tender beef slow-cooked to perfection, served on toasted rolls with melted cheese and a warm au jus for dipping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lb beef chuck roast
- 1 packet au jus mix
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 6 hoagie rolls or French sandwich buns
- 6 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Place the chuck roast in your slow cooker. Sprinkle the au jus mix, onion soup mix, garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the beef.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Cover and cook on Low for 7–8 hours or High for 4–5 hours, until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the roast from the slow cooker and shred using two forks.
- Strain the cooking liquid into a bowl or small pot to use as the au jus dipping sauce.
- Layer the shredded beef onto toasted hoagie rolls, top with provolone cheese, and broil for 1–2 minutes until melted and bubbly.
- Serve each sandwich with a cup of warm au jus for dipping.
Notes
- Tip: Save the au jus; it’s perfect for dipping and can be thickened slightly if desired.
- For gluten-free variations, use gluten-free onion soup mix and au jus, and tamari instead of soy sauce; use GF rolls.
- Leftovers refrigerate well for 3-4 days; reheat before serving.
