Description

Creamy Smothered Chicken and Rice is a comforting one-pan dinner featuring juicy chicken breasts seared golden, then simmered in a rich cream sauce with garlic, onion, and herbs, served over fluffy rice.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or jasmine)
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, and a pinch of Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken on each side for 3–4 minutes until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Pour in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, whisking until smooth and creamy.
  5. Return chicken to the pan and spoon sauce over the top. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10–12 minutes, until chicken is cooked through and sauce has thickened.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve the creamy smothered chicken over warm rice, garnished with fresh parsley.
