Description

Christmas Crack is a quick, 5-minute ultimate easy delicious snack that blends buttery toffee, crispy saltines, and chocolate into a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Holiday sprinkles or crushed candy canes (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the saltines and spread evenly with a spatula.
  4. Bake for 5 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
  5. Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly with a spatula.
  6. Add sprinkles or crushed candy canes while the chocolate is still warm.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours, or until firm. Break into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

  • Line the pan with parchment paper or foil for easy removal and clean edges.
  • Chill until firm for clean breaks and tidy pieces.
  • You can extend or shorten the toffee boil time to adjust thickness and flavor; just watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
  • Try using dark chocolate or white chocolate for a different twist, and experiment with toppings like crushed peppermint or chopped nuts.
