Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  3. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. Divide dough in half.
  4. Mix cocoa powder into one half of the dough. Mix peanut butter into the other half.
  5. Take small pieces of each dough and gently press together, twisting slightly to create a marbled swirl. Roll into tablespoon-sized balls.
  6. Place on baking sheets and lightly flatten.
  7. Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Chill dough for 30 minutes if it’s too soft to handle.
  • Do not overbake; cookies should be soft in the center.
  • For stronger marbling, gently twist the halves together before shaping.
