- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie, roll into balls, and place on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are soft.
- Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
