Description

Cheesy Steak and Rice Skillet: a quick, one-pan comfort meal featuring juicy steak bites, fluffy seasoned rice, and gooey melted cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add steak pieces, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in rice, paprika, and thyme.
  5. Pour in beef broth, bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 15–18 minutes until rice is tender.
  6. Return steak to the skillet and stir gently to combine.
  7. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top. Cover for 2–3 minutes until melted and gooey.
  8. Garnish if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute mozzarella for cheddar if you prefer a milder melt.
  • For a bit of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the onions.
