Description

Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joe Melts: Crispy, buttery garlic bread piled with saucy seasoned beef and gooey melted cheese for a bold, comforting mashup that’s ready in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire-style sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 3 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (for garlic butter)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in onion and cook 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire-style sauce, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Mix softened butter with minced garlic and spread evenly over cut sides of bread.
  6. Place bread on a baking sheet and toast for 5 minutes.
  7. Spoon sloppy joe mixture evenly over toasted bread halves.
  8. Sprinkle cheese generously on top.
  9. Bake 8–10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Slice, garnish if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Optional garnish with chopped parsley on top.
  • For a crispier crust, toast the bread a few minutes longer before adding the filling.
  • Use mozzarella or cheddar cheese, or a blend for a gooier melt.
  • Leftovers refrigerate well; reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warm and cheese is melty.
  • Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 hours before baking.
