- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ tsp Cajun seasoning
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¾ cup tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire-style sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- For the Creamy Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Add onion and bell pepper and sauté 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Season with Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, and Worcestershire-style sauce. Simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
- Stir in cheddar cheese and garlic powder until smooth and creamy.
- Toast buns if desired. Spoon Cajun chicken mixture onto buns and drizzle with creamy cheese sauce.
- Serve warm.
