- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire-style sauce
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, black pepper, and onion powder. Mix gently and form into 6–7 oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown patties 2–3 minutes per side. Transfer to baking dish.
- In the same skillet, sauté onion and mushrooms for 4–5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and Worcestershire-style sauce. Simmer 2–3 minutes.
- Pour gravy mixture evenly over hamburger patties.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake uncovered 10–15 minutes until melted and bubbly.
- Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.
Notes
- You can use any shredded cheese (mozzarella or Swiss) to top the patties.
